Israel and Iran: Identity, Security, and a New Middle East
A Strategy International Monography by Dimitrios Makousis
Executive Summary
This publication examines the evolving geopolitical, strategic, and identity dynamics driving the Israel-Iran conflict and its broader implications for the Middle East. From historical development to contemporary affairs, such as the October 7 Hamas attack, Israel’s military campaigns against Iran’s proxies, and Iran’s retaliatory strikes on Israel on October 1, 2024. These events underscore the intensifying confrontation, exacerbated by Iran’s regional influence and its support for groups like Hezbollah and Hamas.
