Abstract:
The upcoming European Union (EU) Parliament elections in June 2024 represent a pivotal moment in shaping the trajectory of European nation-states and their citizens. This conference aims to explore the multifaceted dimensions surrounding the elections and analyze their implications on governance, geopolitics, and societies.

From a political science perspective, current polls indicate a potential victory for far-right parties, prompting a critical examination of their validity in post-election analysis. The overarching debate revolves around the balance between Sovereignty and Federalism.
Concretely, the elections will significantly impact the lives of over half a billion EU citizens. Crucial topics such as common defense and relations with NATO, migration policies and the Schengen space, the expansion of the Union, and relations with Turkey, as well as the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and the sanctions against Russia, will hang in the balance.

Economically, ecology will emerge as a central theme, with profound repercussions on manufacturing and industrial sectors, including energy, transportation, manufacturing, and agriculture.

Such factors, among others, will collectively shape the future of Europe and its position in a rapidly changing world.

The Rationale for our Scientific online meetings:
As SI strategy members are found across the US, Europe, Asia, and beyond, the convenience and efficacy of online meetings are indispensable tools for maintaining meaningful connections.

The aim is to facilitate ongoing dialogue, exchange ideas, and cultivate a vibrant intellectual atmosphere that transcends borders and time zones by supplementing the annual in-person and other events, such as meetings, conferences, symposiums, and gatherings.

These virtual encounters bridge the physical gap of those who wish to learn from our empirical knowledge and diverse opinions. We want to enrich the fabric of our think tank’s community life, reinforce its members’ relationships, and strengthen its collective pursuit of knowledge and innovation.

Adding this feature displays a sense of an active community of researchers working on contemporary and strategic themes, thus reinforcing the status of the think tank.
