The Board of Owners, the Director, the Advisory Board, and the Members of Strategy International warmly congratulate Ms Stéphanie Laulhé-Shaelou on her appointment as Advocate General at the Court of Justice of the European Union, nominated by the Republic of Cyprus.
Ms Laulhé-Shaelou will serve her mandate starting on the 13th July 2026 and concluding on 6 October 2027.
A distinguished legal scholar and practitioner, Ms Laulhé-Shaelou has been a highly respected member of the Strategy International Advisory Board. Her legal expertise, academic excellence, and unwavering commitment to the rule of law have made a significant contribution to our institution and its mission.
Strategy International engages with current and emerging leaders from government, academia, business, diplomacy, international organizations, and civil society to advance strategic thinking, informed dialogue, evidence-based policy, and responsible leadership in addressing global and regional challenges.
In accordance with the principles of judicial independence, impartiality, and the responsibilities attached to her new office, Ms Laulhé-Shaelou will step down from all affiliations with Strategy International for the duration of her mandate.
Stéphanie Laulhé-Shaelou is a Cypriot legal scholar and Professor of European Law and Reform, best known for her expertise in European Union law, constitutional governance, the rule of law, and fundamental rights. She has served as Head of the School of Law at UCLan Cyprus and has led numerous European research initiatives, including the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence for the Rule of Law and European Values (CRoLEV). In July 2026, she was appointed Advocate General at the Court of Justice of the European Union, where she serves the remainder of the mandate following the resignation of Nicholas Emiliou, becoming one of Cyprus’ highest-ranking jurists within the EU judicial system. Professor Shaelou was a senior consultant at Strategy International (SI).
