A twin suicide attack in the Moscow metro, coincides with the Russian decision to get involved anew in Afghanistan, this time not as an "intruder", but –at least initially- by facilitating NATO forces' resupply;analogous legitimisation was offered to the US led intervention, by the 9/11 attacks in New York.

Η πρόσφατη πρόθεση της Ευρωπαϊκής Επιτροπής να εισαγάγει ένα νέο σχέδιο υπό το οποίο όλες οι αεροπορικές εταιρίες που πετούν από και προς την επικράτεια της Ε.Ε, θα είναι υποχρεωμένες να μοιράζονται 19 διαφορετικά δεδομένα προσωπικών πληροφοριών για τους επιβάτες τους, αποτελεί ένα ακόμα δείγμα στείρου μιμητισμού των μέτρων ασφαλείας του υπερατλαντικού δέους.

  • NATO-led and Afghan forces have the initiative in Kandahar, says southern Afghanistan Commander
    Major General Nick Carter, Commander of the International Security Assistance Force’s (ISAF’s) efforts in Southern Afghanistan, said that ISAF and Afghan Security Forces have the initiative over insurgents in the Kandahar region. On 7 September, General Carter gave an update to Brussels media on current military operations in the province and efforts to build the capacity of Afghan Security Forces.
  • NATO Secretary General visits US
    The Secretary General met today with President Obama, together with Secretary Clinton and Secretary Gates, and National Security Advisor James Jones. They looked forward to the upcoming NATO Summit in November, and discussed the importance of agreeing a new Strategic Concept for the Alliance which mandates NATO to defend the its members in new ways against the threats of today and tomorrow.
